Vendors
AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
Attention Drums Along the Hudson Vendors:
Please note that the entrance and exit locations for vendors has been
changed. The park will be open at 7am, Sunday May 19th and vendors can cue
up on 218th Street and Indian Road, under the direction of Park Supervisors*.
Exiting vendors will be directed to exit the park at Seaman Avenue and Isham
Road.
Drums Along the Hudson® would like
to invite you to participate as a vendor (crafts/food
or environmental tent) at the Annual Drums Along the Hudson®:
A Native American Festival, which will be held on Sunday, May 19th, 2013.
Drums Along the Hudson® features Manhattan's only
open air pow wow, which is a celebratory gathering of Native American people. This year's honorees are Grammy Award Winner, Singer and Songwriter Joanne Shenandoah and
Author Doug George for their contributions to Native American
arts and culture, and Deborah Harvey-Koenigsberger, Founder and
President of Hearts of Gold, for her humanitarian services. We will also plant a Tree of Peace in a
ceremony, officiated by Mohawk Elder Tom Porter, which pays
tribute to the memory of community leaders we have lost in the previous
year. Sandra Bookman, weekend anchor for WABC-TV, will host the
event. Co-sponsored by Lotus Music & Dance and
The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, the event is free to
the public, and attracts as many as 10,000 visitors. WABC-TV will advertise
the event for approximately one month beforehand, which is expected to result
in an increased attendance.
A multi cultural family-oriented festival, Drums Along the Hudson®
includes exhibitions of world dance and drumming traditions as well as Native
American crafts, children's activities and international cuisines. The festival
combines a celebration of Native American heritage, culture, and art with
the diversity of New York City itself. In keeping with the underlying theme
of environmental appreciation and education, Drums Along the Hudson®
will continue to feature an Environmental Tent which will include lectures
and demonstrations by organizations and artists dedicated to promoting an
eco-friendly lifestyle. Captain Planet will also be in attendance, courtesy of the Captain Planet Foundation.
Please follow the link to the Vendor Application, read through the application
carefully and complete all parts to secure your space.
Space is limited and applications will be honored in the
order that they are received. Approved vendors will be notified promptly;
notification will include a copy of the signed application and NYC Parks Driving
Rules.
*Please note: when approaching the park from the South, there are no left turns from Broadway onto 218th St. The easiest route to the park entrance is to come from the West Side Highway, exiting on Riverside Dr, making the first left onto Henshaw St, turning right on Dyckman St, turning left at Seaman Ave, and making a left onto 218th St
